We are a young family that moved to Brittany in 2011. We used to live in the Netherlands, in the old city center of Edam, but after 10 years we were ready for a change. It has now been over 15 years that we have established our lives here, the children are 18 and 20 now, but still very much enjoy being at home. Although they have ambitions to discover the world, their roots are anchored here in the green garden of our home.
Adventure & Challenge
The aspect of adventure, the availability of time and space to be creative and undertaking, the bilingual education of the children, but most of all a more responsable and eco-friendly lifestyle, motivated us to take a plonge in the deep end and say goodbye to our life in Holland. Here in the middle of the farmlands, with the seabreeze blowing around our heads, surrounded by very friendly Breton people and our chicken we are working hard to fulfill our dream: receiving guests in a hospitable, fun, responsable and inspiring environment and making sure they have a wonderful holiday.Veggies & Fruit
We grow our own vegetables in our vegetable garden and greenhouse, like lettuce, zucchinis, herbs, pumpkins, we have an orchard with some pear and apple trees and if we keep ahead of the birds, we might be able to eat some raspberries! We are gardening as much as we can on a permacultural basis, but we still have a lot to learn...
Chicken & Eggs
We have our chicken to provide us with eggs.Recycling & Responsable
We hardly throw anything away, the cuttings of vegetables and fruit are to be composted, edible food rests are for the chickens, we found a lot of our furniture on flea markets and car boot sales, we capture water from the gutters to flush the toilets and to water the plants.
Cooking & Eating
We love to cook with seasonal and local ingredients and we like to do it for you as well. Here in France that is called Table d'Hote. We also regurlarly visit (organic) vine yards to find suitable wines to accompany the food and we brew our own beer!
