Lovely Longère

Home & Garden

The longère is the old main farmhouse in our part of the hamlet and probably dates partly from the 18th and partly 19th century. During the renovation, we wished to restore the facade as much as possible to its original glory with (semi-)dry brickwork and cut stones). We did enlarge and raise the openings slightly, but the facade should have looked more or less like it did then. Inside, however, there's little left to remind us of that time, and that's a good thing :-)! Today, it's a wonderfully light (which wasn't the case in the past), warm, dry (which wasn't the case), and cozy (which wasn't the case back then) family home, where the holiday begins the moment you step through the door!

At the entrance to the house, facing west, is a secluded garden with a large dining table under a pergola, a drinks nook with a comfortable garden bench and two lounge chairs. The east side is a perfect spot to wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and a view of the meadows. The south side is often too hot to sit comfortably, but the lavender and African lilies love it there.

Upstairs & downstairs

Downstairs, after crossing the threshold, you enter the entrance hall, then take a few steps down to the kitchen and the spacious living room with two box beds, perfect for reading that book on that one rainy day... The kitchen is equipped with a large stove with a double oven, a dishwasher, and a comprehensive inventory so you have no excuse not to cook again!

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms: the blue one has a double bed (160x200 cm), the green one also has a double bed (160x200 cm), and the yellow one has a single bed (210x80 cm) and a wooden single bed (180x90 cm). There's a separate toilet and a bathroom with a shower and double sink.

The house is less suitable for people with walking difficulties, as it has a number of small steps due to the difference in level.

The landing has a balustrade, with only a rope as protection as on the photo. We've also stretched canvas between the uprights for added safety. If you're traveling with smaller children, we have stair gates to secure the stairs.
